The cabin can be accessed from the southwest via a private, gated road or from Wake Up Jim Road, which intersects the property from south to north. It is approximately a 15-20 minute drive from Fic's gas station in Deer Lodge. In the winter, the last mile or so can be accessed via snowmobile or a 4x4 vehicle with winter tracks. Hunting opportunities right outside the cabin door are abundant during both archery and general (rifle) seasons, thanks to a healthy elk herd in the area, as well as whitetail deer, mule deer, grouse, and bear. Other recreational activities include snowmobiling, four-wheeling, side-by-side rides, dirt biking, and more on the hundreds of miles of accessible forest service trails.
